La Pocatière

The first Canadian agricultural school opened in La Pocatière in 1859 and it remains a place of learning and research to this day. The town is well known for its Institut de technologie agroalimentaire du Quebec (ITAQ), three technology transfer centres collaborating with the La Pocatière CEGEP as well as the Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière College. Also known as a place of discoveries, the Fil Rouge Circuit (auto-guided podcasts and interpretative panels) is the best way to explore its nature, history and local culture. Listen to the past while walking in the present! Genealogy fans will also enjoy the Passeurs de Mémoire podcast. Stop over at the La Pocatière Halte Marine showcasing the riches of our seawater wetlands and discover the incredible biodiversity of local fauna and flora.

Located in the Maison du Kamouraska, the halt is an incredible window on life in and around the St. Lawrence River. La Pocatière is also a great place to enjoy simple, inexpensive activities as a family: walking in the Collège Mountain with its panoramic views, picnicking in the microclimate of the floral garden, water sports, in-line skating, jogging along the St. Lawrence River or mountain biking at the Boisé Beaupré… all free for you to enjoy! Did you forget anything? Visit one of our many shops to find it! Everything you need to have a magnificent time with us is made available to you. Happy discoveries! La Pocatière IS where it begins!
