Saint-Denis-De La Bouteillerie

Saint-Denis-De La Bouteillerie is a village with two centres running along a rocky outcrop immersed by the scent of the sea… Admire the well-built homes dominating the rich lands of the agricultural plains and the north-south oriented church nave – unique to the Côte-du-Sud – with its slender spire rising tall in the sky as the highest in the county. Do not miss the sumptuous Jean-Charles Chapais house shop, a historical monument where the agronomist son built the first butter factory school in 1881. At the time, butter made from Canadian cows was a famous county delicacy. It even travelled by sea all the way to England! Along the Route de l’Église to the north you will reach the Bellevue Park, a lovely viewpoint overlooking a tranquil section of the St. Lawrence River in Saint-Germain-de-Kamouraska. Do not miss visiting the old chapel which was built in 1943. Saint-Denis-De La Bouteillerie celebrates colour every year by hosting with its neighbours Kamouraska and Saint-Germain-de-Kamouraska the famous Kamouraska Painting Symposium. When it is time to celebrate summer flavours and regional delicacies, Saint-Denis-De La Bouteillerie is the place to be!
