As the entry point of the Kamouraska region, Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocati\u00e8re stands tall as the first series of steep-sided rock mountains (known as cabourons in French) appear in front of your eyes. First known as Sainte-Anne-de-la-Grande-Anse in reference to this vast cove along the St. Lawrence River, it is also known as Sainte-Anne-du-Sud. Amerindians called it Kamitsitsit or Kannissigit, meaning where there are a lot of beavers. The current designation owes its name to the first lord of La Pocati\u00e8re, Fran\u00e7ois Pollet de la Combe Pocati\u00e8re, and to his wife, Marie-Anne Juchereau.<\/p>\n
